With Valen behind him carrying the light, Maven resumes examining his surroundings, moving at a slow pace.

As the group moves along, Maven ever alert at their head they do not sense anything. No strange sound or figures moving with in the shadows or waiting depths. It seems almost peaceful if it were not for the knowledge of those that have claimed it.

Maven sees nothing threatening in the cavernous passages, but refuses to allow that to dissuade him from being constantly alert as he continues to move and study his surroundings.

((Maven is essentially moving defensively, half-speed, ready to stop and be ready to defend himself at any time))

Rishadis moves along with the group, as his eyes peer into the darkness with some ease. He tries to figure out if these tunnels were blocked for a reason, or temporary. He keeps close to the others, his eyes and alertness ready to deal with anything that would come their way... He continues to follow, until told otherwise or warned of danger.

Maven couldn't believe it. Was there nothing in this place? He continues to move ahead, his senses all alert for a trap or ambush, spiked chain at the ready, but not swinging so he does not mistakenly hit Narsheth.

((Not sure if he should be Spotting and listening again since he hasn't really stopped))

The sound of moving feet and rustling of gear. Maven is the first to look upon the shadows and see goblins. The little things howl and others answer the call to the south and north.

Two arrows fly from the darkness to strike Maven, they bounce off him with a light thump. A voice is heard from the darkness where the arrows came from and then a wave of magic flows thru the air, causing the other goblins to raise their blood cries higher.

Hearing the chanting and the obvious use of magic, Rishadis moves a little towards the chants, hoping to find where they came from. As he moves beside Maven, he spots figures in the distance, north, southwest, and even more to the west. Spotting the figures north, and the ones looking like they aren't grunts, Rishadis aims for the one that looks most like their leader, hoping to end this quickly.

Chanting as he dips his hands into his spell component pouch, he conjures forth a fiery bolt, as it assails the figure to the north. There was no need to worry about hitting the figure, as the bolt appears quickly, and hits the goblin leader with both fiery force. Rishadis awaits to see what the reactions from the goblins will be when confronted with the possibility that their leader may not survive so easily.

(Kelgore's Fire Bolt, Instantaneous, DC16 Reflex for half 3d6 fire dmg; Spell Resistance for only 1d6 fire damage)
Rolling some dice:
3d6: 12 (6, 1, 5)


Edited to select Goblin 2 as target and to include Reflex Save DC

Hearing the goblin's cry, Valen jogs forward until he's right behind the others and begins reciting a spell to protect himself from attacks. Holding up the everburning torch, he tries to get a glimpse of his attackers.
