Ordering an ale to go with breakfast (since its too early yet for whiskey), Akanae listens carefully to Aurora.

"Renegade eh? I may come to like this Thoran guy." Says the drow paladin of Amaunator. "But all the same, I wonder if the shadowfell guys will give us a reward if we take care of him for them. Mikkal might like his books though." The paladin nudges the wizard in the ribs with her elbow.

Garret ignores Cendrimus, he's more interested in this Thoran. "Well it makes sense, only a crazy wizard would think about threatening us," he says laughing. Slightly lowering his voice, he continues, "so, are we going to exploring the undead filled catacombs today ?"

It's not that the halfling was interested into fighting such abominations, he even hated them, but it was the only path they known to them.

Nodding at the halfling, Akanae voices her agreement, "Yes, we should bring the light of Amaunator into the lightless underground."

Downing her ale, she puts the mug firmly on the table and adds grinning, "More importantly, we get to stick some sharp weapons into undead rear ends."

"Ok, after a houlier-than-thou paladin and a cut-throat halfling we now have a cross-breed of both. Great. But the books do seem interesting...", Mikkal thinks to himself while downing his tea.

"Well if Thoran indeed stands between us and our answers, we should indeed take care of the problem... Garret, stop smirking when I say "taking care of the problem" please, it is too early in the morning to feel nauseated.", Mikkal sighs berfore returning to his tea.

"Ok, next time the dirty work needs to be done, I will let you take care of it.", he answers before taking the bread. "Ladies first.", he adds offering Mikkal the bread.

"I wasn't so much criticizing your taking care of business, but much more the eagerness with which you seem to do it. My apologies if there was a way to misinterpret my words. And seriously, calling someone a woman is a rather pathetic attempt at an insult. Unless it is common in your culture to consider women to be of less worth. In that case I pity the females of your race and hope you will show the courtesy these ladies deserve nonetheless.", Mikkal berates Garret.

He still takes the bread though. "Thank you."

Garret laughs. "You are welcome. You are right, there seems to be a large cultural gap between us. Oh and by the way..." his voice becomes colder, "pitying the enemy is foolish. But I didn't expect a mage to understand that as soon as you pick up a weapon and are ready to kill someone, you should be prepared to die."

Trying to lighten the mood, he finishes with telling that the poor soul got his chance, but Lady Luck didn't smile upon him.

Aurora accepts the bread with a nod of thanks. "Mercy for the dark creeper was at our discretion, as long as it didn't suffer needlessly, I'm not so concerned." the deva chips in, "But I'll also admit that my perspective may be a little skewed from a deva's nature. More to the matter at hand, what is our objective in confronting this Thoran person? If he's got his hands on great power he doesn't seem to show it and perhaps we did trespass, however inadvertently, on his territory. I'm not so sure that forcing our way into his homeground and antagonizing him is warranted. Besides, we don't even know if this is the same Thoran and every mage circle claims to have tomes of amazing power lying around, and I like to think that it's a polite fiction that they keep up." she takes a deep breath.

"So, what do we do now, and why?"

Shaking her head, Akanae interjects: "Its not his territory here. Its the lady of the tower's. Thoran is just someone who is exploiting the situation to his own ends, either by taking advantage on sincere pilgrims or maybe even keeping the lady herself prisoner in her own premises."

Standing up and making sure the straps fastening her equipment, shield, scabbard and sword are snug and tight, the paladin says grimly, "We do what we came here to do - look for the lady and ask her our questions. And if this Thoran gets in our way, then we'll have to either go around him - or through him."

"Oh, and Mikkal," says Akanae without looking at the wizard. "If you knew even half of the things I've done, I wouldn't be calling me holier-than-thou. I may have been brought up in Amaunator's light, but I'm a drow - violence is in my blood."
